As a Clinical Research Coordinator for the Institute of Healthcare Innovation (IHI), Ms. Pennington’s primary responsibilities are to lead the development and management of veterinary clinical trials and implementation of quality control procedures. She works to oversee all aspects of veterinary clinical studies including creating study proposals, budgets, site initiation visits, monitoring visits, and serving as the liaison with study sponsors. As a Clinical Research Coordinator, she works with faculty and students at Midwestern University’s College of Veterinary Medicine on various studies. Ms. Pennington has helped manage studies involving tumor imaging, new antimicrobial and cancer treatments, pain management and neurodegenerative treatment.

Her objective is to provide clinical measurements such as verifying patient medical history, obtaining vitals and preparing laboratory samples. Ms. Pennington currently performs blood draws, catheter placements, radiographs, lab work and other assessments as needed for ongoing studies. She finds great importance in being part of a team discovering new treatments for naturally occurring diseases.
